'Wojnarowicz - Tape Journals' - Work in Progress Performance at FFormatt Arts

I returned to Brussels to document the performance of the new work in progress devised by a composer Szymon Brzóska, a pianist Barbara Drazkov, a violinist Victor Guaita and a dancer Jacob Storer. The piece is based on the diaries of David Wojnarowicz, a queer, American artist and the AIDS pandemic times activist. The project is part of Fformatt the Arts programme produced by FFormatt, a night club, which has been currently expanding as a platform for visual and performing arts. WE ARE ALL FFAGOTTs!

Having worked for D&AD on regular basis, mostly covering their events and festivals, on this occasion I was asked to photograph Annual ’19.

Each year, D&AD’s Annual brings together the best of the best in creative work; a bible of inspiring projects from around the globe for anyone who is part of the design and advertising industry. In 2019, the book utilises the creative efforts of current D&AD President Harriet Devoy and Richard Turley, her chosen designer.

I documented a day of free performances, workshops and encounters encouraging the public to experience the streets of Bow. The free arts programme included contemporary dance, break dance, parkour, live art, selfies, walks, audio tours, dares, and challenges for all ages.

With performances and participatory experiences from Esprit Concrete, GIRL GANG, Harold Offeh, Janine Harrington, Mickael ‘Marso’ Riviere with Mad Dope Krew, Rachel Gomme, Casson and Friends, and The Demolition Project.

D&AD Lates: Our Toughest Brief Yet

How can the creative industries respond to climate change and global warming? With this in mind, D&AD facilitated 'Our toughest brief yet' and invited climate change activists and creative industry leaders to have their say on how we can take responsibility and use its collective creative powers to drive possible solutions for global warming and the environmental crisis at hand. The debate saw a passionate discussion on how creatives can find solutions to climate change in advertising. Here are some of my photos from the night.
